Want to see what a girl guide can build with arckit?

Remember how hard you had to work to earn just one badge when you were a Girl Guide or Scout? Well, you can imagine how many talented young Girl Guides with skills badges came to IGGNITE 2017 (International Camp of the Irish Girl Guides). This was an inspiring group of very talented girls from across the world, united by the international organisation WAGGGS. There was such a vibrant mix of people, each influenced by different cultures and styles of architecture. We met young designers from Ireland, Canada, the Caribbean, Georgia and Malaysia, to name just a few, who all came to Rockwell College in...

Case study: young architects workshop

Young Architects Workshop is a nine-week youth apprenticeship programme designed to give 14 up to 18-year-olds practical experience creating digital 3D models for real-world clients. This year Young Architects Workshop modified our Arckit Education Programme and used Arckit to teach technical design using physical components and Arckit 3D digital components within SketchUp. The results speak for themselves: each student designed and built a model home from scratch to a client brief in just nine weeks. What is the Young Architects Workshop? The Young Architects Workshop is based in the Brentwood Arts Exchange in Brentwood, MD. The aim of this nine-week programme is to...

How to light up your arckit

How to light up your arckit

This is one of the coolest and most creative Arckit modifications that we’ve come across. Dr Tracy Gardner and Elbrie de Kock, directors of the technology and education website TechAge Kids, had the bright idea to add electronics and light up their Arckit models. The results are spectacular and they are now sharing a step-by-step guide to show you how to do the same! This is a self-initiated and independent project by TechAge Kids. We would like to say thank you to them for sharing this with us.

PICK ‘N’ MIX COMPONENTS: TAKE YOUR MODELS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

We’ve just added all of our new components to our online store and made our entire range of individual components more affordable than ever before. We’ve seen some incredible Arckit designs recently – from the advanced structures created by architecture student Ricky Fairhurst to the innovative use of components (and the first ever octagonal design we’ve seen) by a budding young architect in this Arckit review. We are seriously impressed by the inventive and imaginative use of Arckit components, and the virtually unlimited ways that designers express themselves through their models. The new Arckit sets have been such a success...

ARCKIT GETS THUMBS UP FROM JASON BRADBURY

ARCKIT GETS THUMBS UP FROM JASON BRADBURY

Guess who came to visit the Arckit stand at the London Toy Fair 2017? None other than Jason Bradbury, the tech and gadget guru best known for presenting the TV programme, The Gadget Show. Jason came to check out our stand and find out what the buzz was about. We soon sparked up a conversation about Arckit. He was friendly, enthusiastic and immediately taken by the idea of a freeform architectural model system. Searching for reference points, he described Arckit as being like a middle ground between toys like Lego Architecture and actual buildings, allowing people of all ages (including...

NEXT TIME ON DISNEY’S THE LODGE…ARCKIT!

Arckit was on Disney’s new TV show, The Lodge! We were surprised when we spotted a complete Arckit town in the last two episodes of season one. It looks like the designers have used several boxes of Arckit to create this stunning model community complete with Arckitexture graphics. We’re excited to see Arckit on such a popular show and we can’t wait to see how the plot unfolds. The musical-teen drama series has been a huge hit for Disney. It was broadcast in over 100 countries and is the highest rated show on The Disney Channel in over four years....
