ARCKIT WINS AWARDS AT MAKER FAIRE NEW YORK
Arckit wins two editor’s choice awards at MakerFaire New York 2015
Arckit wins two editor’s choice awards at MakerFaire New York 2015, where we exhibited our groundbreaking architectural model system alongside the latest global innovation companies such as Google, Microsoft, and even Lego.
What an amazing couple of days at MakerFaire in New York! We decided to showcase Arckit at the greatest show (and tell) on earth. A grassroots movement and festival celebrating invention, creativity and resourcefulness – where technologists, crafters, educators, engineers, scientists, artists and hobbyists come together to show what they have made and share what they have learned. If you haven’t heard of it, you should definitely book to go to their next event.
MakerFaire is, without a doubt, one of the best family days you can imagine, where kids can wander around and be captivated and inspired by the latest inventions. It’s a place where they can learn, be hands-on, and get involved in the whole maker movement. Part science fair and part county fair, the show has the energy of a fairground – but one packed with an exciting mix of students, entrepreneurs, start-ups and global companies such as Google, Microsoft, Intel, Arduino, and Lego.
It was a pretty hectic weekend for us in the Arckit tent. In fact, it was so busy that we couldn’t leave our booths and managed to get through our entire stock of promotional leaflets on day one. We hosted back-to-back demonstrations and had hundreds of fascinating conversations with budding architects, designers, schools and colleges, and in particular from the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) community. We even won two coveted editor’s choice awards, including one from the editor-in-chief of Make Magazine, Rafe Needleman.
The MakerFaire was a great opportunity for us to meet so many enthusiastic people and hear their feedback and encouragement. It’s the best event we’ve attended and we’d absolutely encourage families to bring their kids along. Maker Faire events are taking place at various locations around the world including Tokyo, Rome, Detroit, Oslo, Shenzhen – also in several cities closer to home such as London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol and Brighton.
Before heading home, we even had a chance to visit a few Barnes & Noble stores in New York to see Arckit proudly on display alongside iconic brands such as Lego. It was very exciting to see our products on their shelves for the very first time since B&N decided to stock Arckit in their stores right across the U.S. Next stop is Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven where we will be part of Irish Design 2015 installation from 17th October to 25th October!
