In 1979 Fr Peter McVerry began working in Summerhill in Dublin’s north inner-city where he witnessed first-hand the problems of homelessness and deprivation. Ever since then he and his incredible team have been a shining light for the marginalised in Irish society providing shelter for the homeless, refuge for drug treatment as well as services for disadvantaged U18’s, singles, couples and families. Today, under the stewardship of CEO Pat Doyle and Fr. McVerry, The Peter McVerry Trust is one of the fasting growing providers of social housing across Ireland in its continued committed to reducing homelessness, the harm caused by substance misuse and social disadvantage.
